Caitlyn Jenner Calls Out Donald Trump, Mulls Run for Office

Caitlyn Jenner is full of surprises. When Jenner was still Bruce, known by one generation for being an Olympics winning athlete and reality TV star, the world learned that he was transgender, in 2015. News that he was a Republican was also surprising for many people. Now, as Caitlyn is surprising people again. She told a group in New York this week that she voted for President Donald Trump but is not all that happy with his performance.

Jenner said, “My loyalties are not with Donald Trump. I will come after him and come after Republicans if they come after my community. I’ve got a voice and they better listen, OK? I will come after them.”

Jenner Doesn’t Regret Voting for Trump but May Run for Office

People were surprised that Jenner considered herself to be a Republican, given her support for LGBTQ and women’s issues. When asked about her vote last November, she said,  “As far as LGBT issues, yes, he’s made some mistakes. I don’t support him in everything that he does. But we needed to shake the system up.”

An audience member at the famous 92nd Street Y in New York City asked the Olympian turned TV star and now author if she would ever consider running for elected office. Jenner laughed and responded, “I’ve got way too many skeletons in my closet.  Or would I be better working from the inside? If that is the case … I would seriously look at a run. It just depends where I could be more effective.”

When asked about why she is a Republican, Jenner said that she has always, “believed in something called the Constitution and limited government. She is currently doing a press and publicity tour to promote her recent autobiography, “The Secrets of My Life.”
