Last year, Bruce Campbell revealed he was hanging it up as Ash Williams. The Evil Dead fanbase went wild knowing they’ll never see him as the beloved hero again. Fortunately, he’ll be back on TV soon but in a different role. Although he won’t be in the limelight as a horror star, he’ll still be in touch with the weird and creepy.

An Old Classic

It was revealed that Campbell will be the host and executive producer of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! The reboot of the beloved series is being handled by Travel Channel. Like many people, Campbell has a been a big fan of the series for years.

Nicholas Hunt

“As an actor, I’ve always been drawn toward material that is more ‘fantastic’ in nature, so I was eager and excited to partner with Travel Channel and Ripley’s Believe It or Not! on this new show. And because amazing things happen all around the world, we should have no shortage of unbelievable stories to share with a fresh new audience,” he said in a press release. Campbell celebrated the news at a New Year’s Eve celebration of Ripley’s Believe It or Not!’s 100 year anniversary.

70 Years Of Stories

The show version of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! began in 1949 and was hosted by Robert Ripley. Following Ripley’s untimely death after episode 13, various people began hosting the series. The show was revived in 1982, 2000, and 2008.

Travel Channel general manager Jane Latman is looking to continue what makes this show great. “This entirely new version of Ripley’s is a fresh contemporary approach to the odd and unusual and will be jam-packed with larger-than-life characters, cool facts, history and science,” she said in a press release.

Heading This Summer

The reboot will premiere this summer with 10 hour-long episodes. The show will be filmed at the iconic Ripley Warehouse based in Orlando, Florida. This isn’t Campbell’s first hosting job. In 2015, he hosted Last Fan Standing for Con TV.
