Brian May Has A Extremely Adorable Obsession With Hedgehogs

Updated

on

Celebrities get away with a lot more weirdness that we do in daily life. Some make some questionable decisions, while others have strange addictions that most of us just don’t understand. Brian May, guitarist of Queen, however, has an obsession with a cute little animal we all love: the hedgehog. Here’s what we know about his larger than life love for the precious woodland creature.

Brian May’s Life After Queen

Brian May was the lead guitarist for one of the biggest rock bands of all time. Queen rocked stadiums across the globe with powerful songs like “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Will Rock You.” However, since their disbanding in 1991, the musician has had other projects to work on.

Notably, he has collaborated with 20th Century Fox to create Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic on Freddie Mercury. The movie has been a hit, bringing Brian May back into the public limelight.

May’s Newfound Love For Nature

Since May has been in the public eye more often, people are starting to notice his odd obsession with hedgehogs. He posts about the cute animals on Instagram quite often, sharing updates on his rescue hedgehogs.

May’s love for hedgehogs has turned into a full-fledged commitment. He has recently started a charity called Save Me, which aims to help wildlife in need and advocate for ecological preservation of forest habitats. One of the trust’s projects “AmazingGrace is specifically aimed at saving hedgehogs. It was named after May’s rescue hog Gracie.

#AmazingGrace Saves Hedgehogs From Bonfires

The #Amazing Grace project is helping make wildlife habitats safer for hedgehogs. It aims to protect the forests, preserve corridors between habitats, and educate local populations about hedgehog safety and the dangers they may unknowingly put the creatures in.

One of the ways they are helping to save the declining hedgehog population (which has declined from 1.5 million to fewer than 525,000 in the past 20 years) is by teaching villages to remove the adorable creatures from the bonfire area on Bonfire Night, aka Guy Fawkes Night. This celebration causes hundreds of hedgehogs to be burned alive or endangered. But, with May’s help, more villages are safely removing the hogs before the celebrations begin.
