There are many reasons why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds are one of the Internet’s favorite couples. As if being beautiful, talented, Hollywood mega-stars with flawless wardrobes and an idyllic family wasn’t enough, they also happen to be skilled masters at playfully roasting each other on social media.

Blake Brings The Heat

This week proved to be no exception to the pair’s pattern of viral online banter. The exchange began on Monday night, when Blake Lively shared the poster for her upcoming film, A Simple Favor, on Instagram.

Referring to co-star Anna Kendrick, Lively captioned the pic: “@annakendrick47 is the hotter, female(r) version of my husband… so, would it reaaaally count as cheating??”

“So glad we’re finally taking this public,” teased Kendrick in response. “I let Ryan have Deadpool, he can give me this.”

The Roast Battle Begins

Naturally, given the duo’s history, fans were eager to see how Blake Lively’s star of a husband would be responding to the joke. With a sense of anticipation dominating the comment section, many took it upon themselves to tag Reynolds in the post.

“@vancityreynolds can you please respond so I can go on with my life,” joked one user.

“Scrolling for @vancityreynolds comeback,” said another.

One user seemed to sum up the feelings of everyone with their comment: “@vancityreynolds chomping at the bit waiting for your response. You guys are the funniest.”

Ryan Gives A Response

Reynolds certainly had his work cut out for him; both Lively and Kendrick set the humor bar pretty high with their jabs. Fortunately, being a veteran of meme-worthy Internet exchanges and hilarious on-screen dialogue left the Deadpool star prepared to live up to the task.
