‘Black Panther 2’ Might See The Return Of Killmonger

In 2018’s Black Panther, Michael B. Jordan wowed audiences with his portrayal of Erik Killmonger. His performance landed him critical acclaim from various publications and numerous nominations. While his character died at the end, we may not have seen the last of him.

I Want The Throne

There’s a chance Jordan will return in the forthcoming Black Panther sequel. The actor didn’t speak about it, though. This news came from the recent SAG Awards. Actress Angela Bassett, who plays Ramonda, spoke to ET about the movie. When it came to who is coming back, the actress stated that everyone is looking to return.

Her husband Courtney B. Vance decided to chime in with some surprising words. “Yes, just go ahead and say it, yes. Everyone will be there. Just yes, yes. Including Michael B., yes,” he said.

Bring Me To Life

If Jordan does come back, he could be used in flashback scenes. Since T’Challa found his father in the ancestral plane, Killmonger might be there in waiting. In the comic books, this area is called D’Jalia, and it’s a place where souls go to rest. It is possible to bring Killmonger back to life from this region, though.

When Shuri died in the comic books, she was stuck in this region until she was saved. Bassett also gave a hint that he might’ve already been saved off-screen. “[We didn’t technically see him] go into the ocean, no,” she said.

A Grueling Experience

For Jordan, Killmonger was his most challenging role to date. “It was one of those things that I didn’t know what was going on. I never was in a character for that long of a period of time and was, I guess, that dark, that lonely, that painful,” he told podcaster Bill Simmons.

While fans wait to see if he’s confirmed for the movie, Jordan will be busy with numerous projects. In 2020, he’ll star in Just Mercy and Without Remorse. He’ll also reunite with Black Panther producer Ryan Coogler for Wrong Answer.
