Surprising ‘Beverly Hills 90210’ Secrets The Cast Has Kept Quiet For Years

Published

The opening guitar chords of Beverly Hills 90210‘s theme are enough to get folks reminiscing. The popular ’90s series became one of the greatest teen dramas of all time. With so much surrounding this iconic show, there are a few things that might’ve slipped through the cracks. We’re taking a look at five secrets that they tried to hide from the public.

The Dreams Of Dylan McKay

Dylan was originally supposed to be a short-lived character. The plan was to have him on the show for only two episodes. Due to Fox not loving the character, Aaron Spelling paid Luke Perry’s salary out of his own pocket. Luckily, things turned around in an instant, and a star was born.

Parental Guidance Recommended

Actress Tori Spelling auditioned for the role of Andrea Zuckerman under a different name. Fortunately, she was given the role of fashion designer Donna Martin. While her father was one of the show’s creators, he didn’t tell her about the series. She learned about it from her agent.

Hate Is Just A Four Letter Word

Actress Shannen Doherty was arguably one of the worst people to work with on the show. For years, she engaged in a war with co-star Jennie Garth, but the two managed to patch things up. The actress was also late to shoot on numerous occasions, which upset producer Aaron Spelling.

A Ripe Young Age

To land the role of 16-year-old Andrea Zuckerman, a then-29-year-old Gabrielle Carteris lied about her age. Things got a bit dicey when the actress became pregnant with her first daughter Kelsey Rose. The producers had no choice but to write the pregnancy into the show.

Class Of Beverly Hills

Though the 90210 cast lineup has become iconic, it might surprise you to learn that no single castmember has appeared in every episode. Only four main characters (played by Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green, and Jennie Garth) have made appearances in all 10 seasons, but none of them has appeared in all 296 episodes. Huh.
