Let’s face it: Hollywood marriages don’t last forever. Couples break up left and right. But, some couples are lucky. They manage to defeat the odds and prove to everyone that it is possible for two celebrities to have a loving marriage. This includes Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who continue to pull off the impossible as a Hollywood couple.

Going Public

Fans were shocked when Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis publicly announced their relationship in 2012. The former That ‘70s Show costars managed to reconnect after years of separation. They both had relationships with other celebrities—Kutcher was married to Demi Moore, and Kunis dated Macaulay Culkin. The couple explained their past relationships were important for them connecting later in life.

“I think we had to both go through a lot in our lives to become the people that we were [when we finally got together],” Kunis explained to Howard Stern. “We would never be together based on the people that we used to be.”

The couple had an intense relationship. After becoming engaged in February 2014, Kunis gave birth to the couple’s first daughter, Wyatt, in October 2014. They married in July 2015 and had their second child—a son, Dimitri, born in November 2016. They continue to beat the odds and one of the reasons their relationship has lasted this long is their commitment to privacy.

“You know, I’ve learned the hard way how valuable privacy is,” Kutcher said, referencing his marriage to Moore. “And I’ve learned that there are a lot of things in your life that really benefit from being private. And relationships are one of them. And I am going to do everything in my power to have this relationship be private.”

The Secret To Their Marriage

While the couple wants privacy, they haven’t become complete recluses. Instead, they decide to do “normal” things in life. They claim this is the secret to their marriage—to act like every other couple in the world, not as celebrities. For example, they go hiking, do yoga, attend Los Angeles Dodgers baseball games, eat dinner at local restaurants in Los Angeles, drink coffee at Starbucks, and they make an effort to present themselves as normal parents. They try new recipes at home to see if they will appeal to their children’s picky appetites.

In fact, the couple didn’t even hire a nanny until Kunis returned to work after giving birth to their youngest child in 2016. Like every other parent, Kunis was up for late-night feedings and Kutcher was on diaper duty. Kunis remarked that her husband was a “master swaddler.” She said, “He can swaddle anyone’s baby. If your baby needs to be swaddled, he will do it. Call him. He is a pro.”

The couple also brings their children along on dinner dates. They buckle them into their car seats and bring along the strollers, just like any other family. They travel as a family, including visiting their respective partners on film sets.

Inspiring Others On Social Media

Kutcher loves sharing pictures of his “normal” marriage with Kunis on social media. His Instagram features photos of the couple when they’re on date nights, or when they’re spending time together casually at home. In June 2019, Kutcher posted a viral video of the couple sitting in their car. Kunis is looking at a paparazzi tabloid magazine, in which the cover suggests their relationship is over.

Kutcher commented, “I guess it’s over. @intouchweely have fun selling magazines this week. Maybe next week my wife will be having twins. For the third time. But who’s counting.” Instagram users replied to the post, agreeing what everyone has already known: that they’re the perfect couple.

One user (@eacevedo1969) said, “Haters…hate to see people happy…Don’t let no one steal your joy!” Another user (@escobedo.linda) commented, “I just love you two! Everything you do is a breath of fresh air! Thank you for being real!”

That’s probably why the couple has stay married this long. They’re a realistic couple where they don’t let their fame go to their heads. They’re normal and love each other, whether they’re famous or not. That’s the foundation of a strong marriage.
