Aquaman Offically One Of DC’s Biggest Money Makers At The Box Office

Published

on

Aquaman comes from the depths to deliver to us a film that was fun, exciting, and true to the character. While some have been skeptical if the DCEU could get back on track, as Wonder Woman had been its the only success in a total of four films, Aquman is proving them wrong. Coming in like a tidal wave, Aquaman has grossed more money than any DC film to date.

Surpassing Wonder Woman At The Box Office

Wonder Woman made $821 million worldwide during its box office run before leaving theatres. In only a few weeks, including the holidays of Christmas and New Years, Aquaman has already made $822 million. It still has awhile longer in theaters, as well as premiers in other several international markets, before the movie is out of the running.

Nerdist

Aquaman is already highest grossing DC film internationally. The list of films includes non-DCEU films as well such as The Dark Knight Rises, which was the previous title owner. It seems like the King of the Seas is also king of the box office.

Fourth Place For New Years

The fact that Aquaman came out mid-December, so close to several major international holidays, plays into its success. The New Year’s box office record is held, to no one’s surprise, by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Coming in at second and third place are Avatar and Meet the Fockers respectively.

Star Wars

Aquaman was what people needed for the New Years day. It was fun, optimistic, and shows an example of a better tomorrow. Not just for people in general, but the DCEU films in general.

Expected Gross To Be In The Billions

Considering that the film hasn’t even ended its box office run, there’s indication that it’s going to become a giant cash cow. Several foreign markets have yet to receive Aquaman, and domestically it’s only been out for a few weeks.

Mashable

The DCEU has turned over a new leaf, potentially entering the new year of 2019 with its very first billion-dollar movie. Let’s only hope this trend continues, as it will prove to be a great year if it does.
