The Low Down Adam Sandler Returns To ‘Saturday Night Live’ As A Host Updated 5 months ago on Jul 1, 2019 By Michael Evans When it comes to Saturday Night Live, fans simply love seeing old faces return. Fortunately, they’re getting a huge throwback with Adam Sandler hosting the show on May 4. As expected, this news is throwing old school SNL fans into complete overdrive. Let The Jokes Flow SNL made the surprise announcement over on their Twitter page. Some people assume that Sandler may not be coming alone for this one. “I wonder how many of Adam’s buddies will pop up, too. That’s must-see TV,” stated Twitter user frambush33. Sandler has frequently worked with SNL alumni Rob Schneider and Kevin Nealon. Actor Josh Gad, who is best known for Frozen, was also thrilled at Sandler’s return. “WHAT?!!! @AdamSandler is coming back to host? WHAT?!!!!!,” he tweeted. Sandler and Gad both worked together on the 2015 film Pixels. Sandler joins a list of SNL alumni that have hosted the show, including Seth Myers and Will Ferrell. Nothing But Comedy Sandler joined Saturday Night Live in 1990 as a writer after being discovered by Dennis Miller. The following year, the comedian’s stock skyrocketed with hilarious musical numbers. Unfortunately, Sandler and co-star Chris Farley were fired from the show in 1995. “Yes, we were [fired]. We kind of quit at the same time as being fired. It was the end of the run for us. The fact that me and him got fired? Who knows. We were on it for a few years, had our run, and everything happens for a reason. We kind of understood because we did our thing. It hurt a lot at the time because we were young and didn’t know where we were going, but it all worked out,” Sandler told The Daily Beast. A Box Office Riot Since SNL, Sandler has seen major success at the box office. Overall, his films have earned a combined $2.8 billion worldwide. His highest grossing films include The Waterboy ($161 million), Big Daddy ($163 million), and Hotel Transylvania 2 ($169 million). Sandler will unveil two movies on Netflix this year: Murder Mystery and Uncut Gems. He’s also reprising his role of Dracula in 2021’s Hotel Transylvania 4.
