Since 2011, Dance Moms has showcased the trials and tribulations of kids in dance. It’s been a hit amongst the youth, with nominations at the Teen Choice Awards and Kids’ Choice Awards. Next season, a beloved cast member will make their return to the Lifetime series.

It’s Miller Time

Dance director Abby Lee Miller will come back to the series that made her a household name. On Instagram, she posted a screencap of herself with the caption, “OMG! Can you believe I’m going to film Season 8 of Dance Moms! Yes, it’s official! We begin the end of Jan!”

Her three million followers were filled with joy at the news. “I am so excited to watch it! Everyone is so amazing. I Love that show it inspires me to become a better dancer,” one user said.

Road To Recovery

Since season one, Miller has been the main dance instructor on the series. During season seven, she left the series due to creative differences. Last year, she was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, which led to various chemotherapy treatments. Following back surgery, she’s been learning how to walk again.

“She’s not 100 percent there yet but she is doing good. She’s going through therapy, she’s going through all the things that she needs to be going through, chemo obviously. [I] think she only has one or two more rounds of chemo, so that’s really, really good for her, but she’s happy, she’s in good spirits,” former student JoJo Siwa told Entertainment Tonight.

A Clean Slate?

Miller is the only confirmed person to return to the series so far. It was recently rumored that Lifetime was set to replace the entire cast with new people. Cheryl Burke, who replaced Miller in season seven, hasn’t commented on returning.

Fans can expect the new episodes to arrive later this year. Aside from Dance Moms, Miller will also film a special about her health battle. That special will also appear on Lifetime in the near future.
