2018’s Best Netflix Original Movies You Still Need To Watch

Published

on

The year 2018 was a big year for Netflix original movies. From The Kissing Booth to Roma, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, it was a great year for Netflix. According to Rotten Tomatoes, five movies deserved more attention. If you haven’t seen these movies, what are you waiting for?

‘Catching Feelings’

There are plenty of romantic comedies streaming on Netflix, but Catching Feelings adds a dark twist to a classic story. The film centers on a married couple whose lives are turned upside down when a writer moves into their home. The film is praised for its brilliant dialogue, in which critics refer to it as a “light little escape from a fresh comedic voice.”

‘Mercury 13’

In the 1960s, women also trained for spaceflight missions. David Sington and Heather Walsh’s documentary, Mercury 13, brilliantly tells the story of these 13 women who hoped to fly in space as part of the Project Mercury. Unfortunately, their dreams were crushed when only men were selected to be astronauts.

‘Us And Them’

Everyone loves a good love story. Us and Them follows two strangers who meet on a train, are separated, and they somehow reconnect and rekindle their love for each other. Critics praise Rene Liu’s Chinese blockbuster as a “simple but beautifully filmed love story.” This is a perfect film to watch for Valentine’s Day.

‘Private Life’

In Private Life, Kathryn Hahn and Paul Giamatti have teamed up to play a married couple who argue all the time because they’re trying to get pregnant. The film, written and directed by Academy Award-nominee Tamara Jenkins, explores the drama that happens in a couple’s ‘private life.’ It’s emotional, dramatic, and absolutely brilliant.

‘Set It Up’

There were many popular romantic comedies, but Set It Up also deserves some love. The film, starring Zoey Deutch and Glen Powell, focuses on two executive assistants who try to play matchmaker for their bosses. You know what happens when two people play matchmaker, right? Set It Up is charming, fun, and is arguably one of the best movies of 2018.
