This Wedding Cancellation Story Is So Ridiculous Even Celebrities Are Sharing

Published

on

Wedding planning can bring out the worst in people, especially the stressed-out bride and groom. But some dramas are worse than others. This bride’s story of why her wedding was canceled is almost too crazy to be true. So crazy, in fact, that it went viral and celebrities are now weighing in. Here’s what happened…

How The Bridal Tragedy Began

The story (told in an especially lengthy Facebook post) starts with a young couple saving up for both a wedding and a baby along the way. When trying to decide where to have their wedding, a local psychic tells them to go with the more expensive option, a destination wedding in Aruba. The couple was able to save up $15,000 on their own but needed some help to get them all the way there.

A Dream Wedding Gone Up in Flames

By “a little help,” the bride meant $1,500 in cash per guest. She wrote, “If you couldn’t contribute, you weren’t invited to our exclusive wedding.” When only eight people RSVP’d, the bride had a complete meltdown. The bride’s fiance suggested they do a more financially viable Vegas wedding, but she did not agree. Soon family and the bridal party backed out of their contributions and suggested they stick to a smaller budget, making the bride’s tantrum even worse.

The Internet Responds to Bridezilla’s Tantrum

The post was originally shared in a Facebook “wedding shaming” group. However, it didn’t take long for others to post it elsewhere, and for users to respond. Most commenters agreed that the bride was asking for far too much, and needed to tone down her expectations. One commenter told that her entire wedding cost less than $1,500 and that she was still happily married, proving that money has nothing to do with a happy wedding day or relationship.

Celebrities Weigh In on Bride’s Grab for Riches

Even celebrities found the bride’s hissy fit to be comically cringe-worthy. Chrissy Teigen called the fiasco “some lower level 13 reasons why s**t” on Twitter, and Michael McKean said he couldn’t “get past ‘a local psychic told us.'” It seemed all of Twitter was shocked by the bride’s reaction.

Where Will the Bride Go From Here?

The bride refused to give friends their contributions back, and it seems she may have used the funds for a different kind of vacation. The bride says she is going to South America for two months to “[rid] myself of toxic energy brought on by my friends and family.” She says she will be “living my life alone now. I [will] only let in those I believe have good intentions.”
