‘Timeless’ Gets Canceled Again, NBC Looking To Tie Up Series With Two-Hour Finale

Having a show come back from being canceled can boost spirits. Getting canceled twice quickly afterward could have the opposite effect. One show suffered this fate, but there might be some closure for fans.

Out Of Time

Sci-fi drama, Timeless, had promise when it debuted back in 2016. Unfortunately, NBC pulled the plug at the end of the season due to low ratings. Loyal fans went on a massive online campaign to bring the show back. NBC listened and revived the show earlier this year.

While the network hoped Timeless would see an increase in ratings, it didn’t happen. After giving fans a long wait, NBC officially revealed they’re canceling the show. Co-creator, Shawn Ryan, expressed his sorrow for the cancellation on Twitter: “We are all extremely proud of what we made and know that it was more than just a show for so many of our fans. It became a passion and a cause for many of them,” he said.

The Final Chapter?

As expected, fans are angry at the news, but there’s hope. NBC is looking at plans to conclude the show with a two-hour movie. With the cliffhanger at the end of season two, fans are looking for a proper farewell to the cast. Sony TV tried to shop the show to other networks, but there was no interest.

Ryan is also on board to give fans one last adventure. “If NBC is sincere in wanting a two-hour movie to give much-needed closure to our amazing @NBCTimeless fans, we are ready to make it. We don’t want the journeys of Lucy, Wyatt, Rufus and the others to end yet,” he tweeted.

Protect The Past. Save The Future.

During its two-season stay, Timeless saw praise from the Teen Choice Awards with four nominations. The show won the award for Best Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Action show at the 2017 Rockie Awards.

Fans and newcomers can rewatch the show at any time over on Hulu.
