Taylor Swift Finally Speaks Out About Kimye Feud

Published

on

Taylor Swift kicked off the Reputation Tour with a bang. The singer finally addressed her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian that started in 2016. She did so with a short speech to her audience. It was the first time she publicly addressed the feud.

The Speech

“A couple of years ago, someone called me a snake on social media and it caught on,” T-Swizzle said. “And then a lot of people called me a lot of names on social media. I went through some really low times for a while because of it. I went through some times when I didn’t know if I was going to get to do this anymore.”

Heat World

Luckily, nobody came on stage and took the microphone from Taylor. She went on to give a message about staying positive in the face of cyberbullying.

Haters Gonna Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate

“I learned a really important lesson and that has to do with how much you value your reputation,” Swift said. “And I think the lesson is that you shouldn’t care so much if you feel misunderstood by a lot of people who don’t know you, as long as you feel understood by the people who do know you.”

Wade Bearden

To summarize: in the face of cyberbullying, we should just try to… shake it off. Though that is easier said than done, it is also sound advice. Taylor also shows us that celebrities are people, too. They have feelings just like the rest of us.

A Longstanding Feud

Taylor and Kanye have been at odds to varying degrees for almost a decade now. It all started when Kanye stormed the stage during Taylor’s acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs to say that Beyonce should have won. Jay Z stepped in to help the two smooth things over in 2015, and Taylor was friendly with Kanye and Kim.

PEOPLE

Unfortunately for the budding friendship, Kanye released a song called “Famous” in 2016. In it, he had some not-so-nice things to say about Taylor and took credit for her fame. He claimed to have received her blessing for the lyrics. She denied this. The two threw shade at one another for a while, and then eventually Kim released video of Kanye discussing the lyrics with Swift in a phone call. Unfortunately, the war still rages on.
