The couple was heading north when they tried to pull out of their lane. As Danny was trying to go around a parked car which was in their way, the truck hit them from behind. Sophie was seated behind Danny at that time.

Danny suffered only minor injuries while Sophie sustained fatal head injuries. Sophie was 6 months pregnant with her second child at the time of her death. The driver of the 18-wheeler truck fled the scene, but later on turned himself over to the police.

Sophie was recognized mostly from her YouTube videos, which some viewers thought was very controversial. She was an advocate for breastfeeding, but more than that, she encouraged mothers to breastfeed their children until they are eight years old. Her ideas were seen as outrageous by some and were practical for others.

In his Facebook page, Danny posted: “Tragic news my girlfriend died in a scooter accident we had today. I am in total shock as I’ve lost the most precious person I had ever connected with. My brain keeps going into in denial I am distraught. She was also pregnant so I lost my child too. I do not have access to all of her friends or family members so if you know any of them, please notify them that this has happened. I need as much love and support as I can get from everyone.”
