It’s Time The World Knew These Secrets About The ‘Jessica Jones’ Cast

Published

on

Starring Krysten Ritter, Marvel’s Jessica Jones has been one of the most acclaimed Netflix shows in years. With its recent second season, even more people are buzzing about the Emmy Award-winning show. We take a look at some things you probably didn’t know about the beloved cast.

Double Matrix

Netflix

Carrie-Anne Moss gained fame for playing Trinity in the Matrix movies. Before this iconic film franchise, she was part of another Matrix. In 1993, she starred in the Canadian series Matrix, which was canceled after 13 episodes. Due to the sci-fi movie’s popularity, CTV cashed in and aired reruns of the show years later.

Displaying Other Talents

Netflix

Aside from acting, Krysten Ritter has also stepped into the music and literature worlds. In 2012, she released her debut album under the name Ex-Vivian. In 2017, she released her first novel titled Bonfire. The 288-page book gained acclaim from Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn and The Woman in Cabin 10 author Ruth Ware.

30 Pounds Of Power

Netflix

In a surprise to many, Mike Colter had to gain weight for his role. A 30-pound weight gain was made between shooting the first seasons of Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. “The physicality for Luke Cage is important because the base material you’re dealing with is graphic novels, which are really all visual,” he told Men’s Journal.

A New Voice

Netflix

David Tennant is known by millions as the tenth Doctor in Doctor Who. While many of his characters are British, Tennant is actually Scottish. His role in Doctor Who originally drew criticism from Scots that disliked his changed accent. “I don’t understand why there’s this thing that actors from a certain place have to speak with the accent of where they come from otherwise they’re somehow being un-Scottish,” he told The Independent.

The Marvel Debut

Netflix

Jessica Jones isn’t the first Marvel appearance for Rachael Taylor. In 2005, the Australian actress made her film debut in Man-Thing, Produced by Avi Arad. The film was only screened theatrically in Russia, United Arab Emirates, and Spain. In the movie, Taylor played love interest Teri Elizabeth Richards.
