Honest Health Blogger Reveals Crude Reality Behind Instagram Pics

In the picture-perfect world of Instagram, it’s an open secret that users airbrush, edit or filter their photos before posting them. Some bravely honest Instagram users have decided to expose the unrealistic standards of beauty, and 20-year-old Sara Puhto is a recent addition to this brave few. She revealed the crude reality behind Instagram pics and showed how she always gets a perfect picture.

As a health blogger, Puhto aims to show the world that what you see online isn’t exactly what you get. Even close-to-perfect bodies of models still do not satisfy the scrutinizing eyes of their photographers, who almost always resort to Photoshop to make a tiny waist even smaller while the rest of her assets are made bigger and rounder.

Puhto wishes to be a body-positive role model for the younger generation who are often body-shamed for not being able to meet the unrealistic, unreachable and impractical beauty standards of a few genetically-gifted models.

Inspired to share the raw and unpolished truth with fellow Instagram users, Puhto snapped unflattering pictures of herself that she would normally scrap, and posted these alongside the perfectly-angled snaps that gave her the much-coveted curves at the right places.

The side-by-side comparison pictures were taken only a few seconds apart from each other, but the difference can be striking and deceiving. Puhto claimed all she had to do was inhale and tuck her tummy in, change her posture, or take a photo from the right angle: “Nobody’s booty looks round and peachy from all angles.”

Puhto emphasized: “The beauty industry strives off our insecurities, and only shows so few body types, please don’t let this make you hate yourself.”

Puhto’s post can be seen with hashtags such as ‘be kind to youslef,’ ‘progress not perfection’ and ‘body confidence.’
