Photographer Takes Cute Pictures of Rats to Make Them More Adoptable

Professional photographer Diane Ozdamar had been taking cute pictures of pet rats not only to improve their image but also to make them more attractive to people who are searching for pets to love.

“I have been taking pictures of pet rats for years hoping to break the negative image that is often associated with these lovely animals,” wrote Diane on her website.

She shared that she had always been fascinated by rats and other animals that most people would label as “pests” and after she first had rats as pets, she was thrilled to discover that her love for them was justified as they are “clean smart, and affectionate, very far from the nasty dirty rat myth most people believe in.”

After experiencing the joy of being a pet rat owner, Diane has been dedicated to rescuing and fostering abused rats and finding them good homes.

Considering that not many people are actually clamoring to adopt pet rats because of their negative reputation, Diane decided to photograph the pet rats in the most interesting and adorable way.

Getting rats adopted “is not an easy task,” she said. “I had to make their cute personalities stand out so people would consider adopting them,” the photographer said.

Diane’s rat portfolio featured her own adopted and fostered rats as well as the pet rats of her friends. She creates custom-made outfits and accessories for the photo shoot herself and makes sure that every one of her models is relaxed and in their best lovable self.

A majority of the cute photos in Diane’s portfolio have been showcased at the “Animal Expo” show in Paris for the past five years. This show creates an avenue for volunteers and animal rights activists to gather information about how to care for rodents and other exotic pets.
