Who Does Peter Dinklage Play In Avengers: Infinity War? All The Rumors

Published

on

With just a month to go before Avengers: Infinity War hits movie theaters, Marvel has really been ramping up their promotion. The highly-anticipated superhero movie will unite 40 characters from across the Marvel Cinematic Universe on screen for the first time. There’s one actor whose character who has been mysteriously kept a secret though — that of Peter Dinklage. The secrecy surrounding the Game of Thrones star’s role in Infinity War has been a mystery to fans. His involvement was first rumored in January 2017, but it wasn’t until last week that Marvel officially confirmed him as a cast member after his name appeared on an official poster. So why all the secrecy?

Who Is He Playing?

Marvel doesn’t do anything by accident, so Dinklage’s role in Infinity War is being kept a secret on purpose. Either his character is too important to the plot or it gives too much away about which direction the Marvel Cinematic Universe could take after Infinity War and Avengers 4. Marvel president Kevin Feige has confirmed new characters part of the next generation will be introduced in the next two Avengers movies, which are the finale to the current storyline. The only indicator of who he might be playing is that he’s likely to have red hair. During the time of filming, Dinklage was photographed with freshly dyed locks. With that in mind, here are the most popular fan theories

Children Of Thanos (The Black Order)

Marvel has confirmed they won’t be revealing the actors voicing The Black Order/Children Of Thanos, which could explain the secrecy around Dinklage. The star does have a distinctive voice and according to Kevin Feige, we will definitely recognize who is behind Thanos’ henchmen. He recently told Vulture: “There are interesting people doing the voices. You’ll probably know when you see the movie.”

Eitri, King Of The Dwarves

King of the Dwarves of Nidavellir, Eitri is a skilled weapons forger and blacksmith who is a close ally of the Asgardians. Fans have speculated his talents for creating the most powerful weapons in the nine worlds could mean he’s called upon during the events of Infinity War. Eitri forged Mjølnir, Thor’s hammer, which was destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok, so will he be making a replacement?

M.O.D.O.K.

Marvel has been toying with introducing a version of supervillain M.O.D.O.K for a few years. During early development of Captain America: Winter Soldier, he was identified as the main villain, with Dinklage the first choice to play him. While M.O.D.O.K didn’t make the final draft, they could have decided to introduce a version of the evil “living computer” later in the franchise. While he doesn’t feature in Infinity War, Marvel has been happy to reshape storylines from the comics to fit the movie universe before.

Comicbook

Pip The Troll/Adam Warlock

Fans are hoping Dinklage will be playing red-headed Pip the Troll. Similar to his character Tyrion in Game of Thrones, Pip is a comic foil to his constant companion Adam Warlock. Adam is Thanos’ ultimate nemesis and both are deeply involved in the events of the Infinity War, so it makes sense that they’re introduced. Adam’s cocoon appears briefly in an end-credit sequence of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and director James Gunn confirmed he would appear in later movies. Could both Adam and Pip be a surprise addition to the cast?
