After 2016’s box office smash Deadpool, comic book fans have been counting down the days until its sequel. Deadpool 2 will feature the film debut of Cable and the superhero team X-Force. It also features one of the most interesting characters to step foot in a Marvel film.

Joining The Fight

Featured in Deadpool 2‘s final trailer, Peter (played by comedian Rob Delaney) is a normal guy that joins the X-Force after seeing an ad posted online. Interestingly, he doesn’t seem to have any powers, but Deadpool sees potential in this newcomer for some reason. Is the character just for comic relief?

Deadpool 2‘s producers are making a pretty big deal out of Peter. He has his own Twitter account, @PeterW_1974. According to his bio, he enjoys sports and grilling on his deck. This account is one of two followed by the official Deadpool 2 Twitter. The other account followed? It isn’t the movie’s star, Ryan Reynolds. It’s the account for the beloved Hello Kitty franchise.

Peter started tweeting towards the end of March. Many of his tweets involve random things he finds online and the typical motivational tweet. He also managed to take a selfie with fellow members of the X-Force. Some of his favorite things include listening to Enya and enjoying Activia yogurt.

A Surprise Character?

Comic book fans have been wondering if this new character is secretly Pete Wisdom. Debuting in 1995, this character has the ability to shoot electricity from his fingertips. He became a member of the X-Force in 2000. Before that, he was a member of Excalibur. For a short time, Wisdom was romantically involved with Colossus’ ex Kitty Pryde.

The love for Peter is so strong that fans are starting to cosplay him. In an interview with Birth Death Movies, Peter is supportive of the cosplay community. “If they can figure out a better place to buy khakis, I’m all for it! Sears just isn’t cutting the mustard anymore,” he said.
