Man with Peanut Allergy Fakes Attack as a Surprise Proposal to Girlfriend

Don’t you just love creative marriage proposals?

Lauren Trulli works as a nurse in New Jersey’s Monmouth Medical Center. As her boyfriend, Tom Ciancia, was wheeled into the emergency room to be promptly treated for what she thought was a peanut allergy attack, she received the surprise of a life-time.

Tom Ciancia is actually a nurse in the same hospital as Lauren, and as she knows very well—he has a serious peanut allergy. On September 17th, Tom was carried out on stretcher from the back of ambulance and rushed into the emergency room in which Lauren just happened to be working. Lauren, the professional that she is, immediately sprang into action to make sure her boyfriend gets top notch treatment.

Lauren was frightened—she knew that serious allergy attacks can end super badly, and it’s the love of her life lying there on the stretcher. According to a CBS New York report, at one point Laurnen couldn’t hold back her concern and cried: “Tom, oh my God!”

But soon all this fear was about to turn into pure gold. Or diamond. Tom, the romantic prankster that he is, pretended to stumble off the stretcher. Luckily, he landed on his knee in just the right position. As he took out the ring he said: “This is the best way to surprise you.” Then, of course, came the fateful question.

Lauren was taken off guard, and it took her a while to realize what was going on. Once she did, though, she could hardly contain her emotions. She took off her surgical glove and brought her hand up to her face as the tears started to come.

Of course, Tom was nervous; he was surrounded by all their co-workers—what if Lauren would say no?

Lauren didn’t take too long. She said yes and everyone around was deeply moved.

The surprise proposal was recorded and uploaded onto the Elberon First Aid Squad’s social media account and quickly was shared among users who thought the scene was just the right combination of creative, hilarious, and romantic.

The video was captioned: “Today we did something truly special for two people! We would like to congratulate Tom and Lauren on their engagement! We helped Tom propose by ‘scaring’ Lauren into saying yes!”
