Norman Reedus Wants a Piece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Published

on

Since 2010, Norman Reedus has been kicking zombie butt as Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead. The role earned him several awards, including the Fangoria Chainsaw Award for Best TV Supporting Actor. Like every other actor in America, the Florida native is now eyeing a part in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hell Is About To Be Unleashed

During Walker Stalker Con, Reedus stated that he’d love to take the role of Ghost Rider. The Marvel anti-hero was brought to life by Nicolas Cage in 2007’s Ghost Rider and 2012’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Marvel Studios

Then Marvel Studios introduced Ghost Rider into the MCU on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2016. This version of Ghost Rider is Robbie Reyes, who was introduced in the books in 2014. Johnny Blaze did make a cameo appearance in the episode “A Good Samaritan,” but no actor played the part.

Surf’s Up America

If he can’t portray Blaze (or the second Ghost Rider Danny Ketch), Reedus had a second Marvel character in mind. “Silver Surfer would be fun,” he stated at the convention. Silver Surfer made his film debut in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Doug Jones, who is best known for his work in The Shape of Water, portrayed the hero. Laurence Fishburne provided the voice of the character.

Fox

Silver Surfer will be one of many characters sent to Marvel Studios in the Fox/Disney merger. There are rumors of a possible Silver Surfer film in development. With Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being more space oriented, it would make perfect sense.

Reedus Stranding

Reedus is no stranger to Marvel. In 2002, he portrayed the role of Scud in Blade II. In 2013, he provided the voice of The Punisher in the anime film Iron Man: Rise of Technovore.

Kojima Productions

Aside from The Walking Dead, Reedus will be busy with season three of Ride with Norman Reedus. He’s also working on the Hideo Kojima video game Death Stranding. Reedus was supposed to be a part of Kojima’s Silent Hills (a.k.a. P.T.) game, but it was scrapped. Death Stranding will also feature Guillermo del Toro, Mads Mikkelsen, and Lindsay Wagner.
