On Friday, a Gene Simmons look-a-like calf was born at a ranch in Kerrville, Texas. The calf has black markings around her eyes that uncannily resemble the Kiss rock star’s iconic face paint. Not only that, she is also fond of sticking her long tongue out, similar to Simmons’ trademark habit. For these striking similarities, its owners have given it the name ‘Genie.’
The photo of the calf was initially posted on Facebook by a local tourism agency for Hill County, where the ranch resides, with a caption that jokingly implies Simmons to be the father. “Where were you on or about November 25, 2016?,” read the comical post. The agency even teased that Genie was conceived while Kiss music was being played on the ranch.
Drew Taylor, who runs the Hill County Visitor site, said that “When I saw the picture, I said, ‘It looks just like Gene Simmons!'” He claimed that the now viral photo was initially sent to him by the calf’s owner Heather Taccetta, who is a friend.
The striking image amused Gene Simmons himself who tweeted about it, saying: “This is real, folks!!! Calf called Genie is born on Texas ranch and looks EXACTLY like Kiss rocker Gene Simmons.”
More than just receiving overnight internet fame, this lucky calf’s uncanny resemblance to the rock star legend saved it from being served for dinner.
Leonard Taccetta, Heather Taccetta’s close relative who happens to work at a steakhouse, assured that Genie won’t be on the menu.
Another Facebook post from the Hill Country Visitor wrote that “obviously, we can’t serve this fine specimen. We may just keep Genie as we call her, as a Mascot for the Steakhouse.”
Taylor admittedly has his eyes set on hopefully receiving a visit from Gene Simmons himself, saying: “I will buy him a steak and [have him] meet Genie.”
