New Batwoman Series To Make TV History With First Lesbian Superhero

It’s hard not to get excited whenever you hear news about an upcoming superhero show. These consistently-entertaining franchises do nothing but fulfill the needs and wants of comic book fans everywhere. Which is why we were beyond psyched to learn about a new CW series that’s solely focused on Batwoman!

This Is A Big Deal!

Months back, fans of the CW hit Arrow were delighted to learn that Batwoman was scheduled to make a cameo appearance in their always-popular crossover episode.

That excitement only amplified once it was revealed that this scene will serve as an introduction to Batwoman—who will soon have a show of her very own!

Staying True To The Source

This televised interpretation is based off the more modern version of Batwoman, who made her comic book debut back in 2006.

People Are Beyond Excited!

As of now, this brilliant spin-off is currently only in the development stages over at there at CW. But it’s quickly gaining momentum with each passing day.

The project will be led by writer Caroline Dries. Her resume includes such hits as Smallville and The Vampire Diaries. Here is how she describes the lead character: “In the series, Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.” Who do you think should play Batwoman?
