A Muslim woman got stabbed and beaten by an unknown man who tried to tear off her hijab. The incident happened right after the unnamed woman left her morning prayers at the (ISM) Islamic Society of Milwaukee.

The victim said the attacker demanded to take her hijab and when she resisted, he began beating and stabbing her. “So he gets up from the car and told me to come here. He said to take my hijab, my scarf,” she narrated to a local news station.

“I tried to fight him. ‘Don’t take my hijab,’ you know? So he threw me on the floor then he beat me like an animal.” She went on to say, “I said to myself, ‘I am going to die today for sure.”

The man left the scene without taking any of the victim’s valuables. Munjed Ahmad, ISM’s spokesperson told FOX6 News that the attack was not a robbery incident since nothing was stolen. “Her valuables remain with her. The only motive we can think of – because everything stayed with her and this individual went straight for her scarf – is a hate crime,” he said.

This is not the first time that a Muslim woman got attacked to tear off her scarf. In 2016, the same incident happened to Muslim teen when her male classmate attacked her hijab a day after Trump became the president of the US. The boy called her terrorist and demanded her to leave the country.

Another case happened earlier this year when a man tried to rip off a British-born Muslim woman’s hijab at an eatery in London. The attacker accused her of ‘killing people’ and told her that she should not be in London.
