Which MIA ‘Game of Thrones’ Character Is Returning In Season Eight?

Published

on

Warning: spoilers ahead!

Ghost is a perfect name for the character who’s been strangely absent since the beginning of season six. We haven’t really seen Jon Snow’s loyal direwolf since he was the first to greet Snow after his surprise resurrection. So, where the heck is he?

The Last of the Stark Pack

There aren’t that many wolves left in the Stark puppy pack. Sansa’s poor pet Lady was the first to go, after being beheaded by association when Joffrey was bitten by Arya’s direwolf. Summer, belonging to Bran, bravely died trying to protect his master from White Walkers. Robb Stark’s wolf was slaughtered during the carnage of the Red Wedding.

The youngest Stark’s direwolf was killed when Rickon was taken hostage by the Boltons. And Nymeria, Arya’s canine companion, was set free and is now a wild thing of the North. Ghost is the only direwolf still attached to the Starks, and we want to see him!

He Actually Was in Season Seven

While Sansa mentioned Ghost in the episode “Eastwatch,” the audience never actually got to see the snow-white wolf. It turns out, he was indeed in a scene from the episode “Stormborn,” but he was cut. Ugh!

In the deleted scene, Jon comes out of the crypt and is joined by Ghost, whom he tells to “Take care of Sansa, watch over her for me.” Well, at least we know Ghost is roaming around Winterfell somewhere!

Season Eight Appearances

According to Game of Thrones VFX supervisor Joe Bauer, Ghost will be around in the eighth season. Bauer told Huffington Post, “He’s very present and does some pretty cool things.”

Hindustan Times

From runt of the litter to last remaining Stark guardian, we’re pretty excited to see what’s in store for Ghost in season eight!
