You’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t have a fond memory of gathering around the television and watching Jeopardy with their family. The unique “question-as-answer” format left a lasting impression on all who tuned in. And it’s that constant viewership that’s made this particular game show one of the most successful in history. And the man who’s been steering this quiz-filled ship the whole time is none other than the always-dapper, Alex Trebek.

The Man’s A Legend

Since 1984, Trebek has stood proudly behind his legendary podium, bearing witness to some of the most intelligent minds this country has to offer.

However, after such a long, illustrious career as one of the most respected minds on television, Trebek has recently hinted at his potential retirement when his contract runs out in 2020. This would be devastating for those who have followed the show since its birth.

Life After ‘Jeopardy’?

Seeing as how this has been his daily routine for over 30 years now, it stands to question what he plans to do with all the inevitable free time waiting for him. When this very question was posed to Trebek, he wasted no time in calmly responding that he absolutely sees solace in a Jeopardy-free life.

And why shouldn’t he? The man is an elegant genius who has more than earned the right to enjoy his golden years.

Possible Replacements

Though Trebek’s departure isn’t quite set in stone, he’s still offered up some potential candidates who could take his place when he finally does decide to leave.

Amongst the names Trebek has offered up to producers are Alex Faust (the play-by-play commentator for the Los Angeles Kings) and Laura Coates (a well-respected lawyer with a history of on-camera experience). Who would you like to see take over the hosting duties?
