Jason Hoppy Arrested Over Harrasment of Ex-Wife Bethenny Frankel
Jason Hoppy has been slapped with a restraining order from ex-wife Bethenny Frankel after the Real Housewives of New York City superstar complained of harassment and subsequent arrest of the businessman. The restraining order requires Hoppy to keep away from his ex’s home and he is also not allowed to get in touch with her, and goes in effect immediately.
Hoppy was arrested for alleged stalking and harassment on Friday 27th January after the star actress complained that he threatened her when he showed up at her daughter’s school.
According to a NYPD spokesperson, Hoppy had contacted Frankel hundreds of times via FaceTime calls and emails contrary to a cease and desist letter issued in November last year. The spokesperson further said that the defendant approached Frankel (and her friend) and attempted to start a fight and said that he would “destroy” her,a claim that has not been opposed by her ex.
Bethenny’s attorney Barry Zone said that his client decided to report her ex-husband’s obnoxious conduct after “years of systemic bullying, harassment, stalking and torment on nearly a daily basis”.
Zone said that Ms. Frankel, her boyfriend and her assistants have received “hundreds of escalating texts and emails from Hoppy”. The ex-husband has demanded for unnecessary meetings with Frankel and stated that he will ‘never go away’ and that he will continue communicating with Frankel as he sees fit.
In a statement, Zone said that such mental and psychological abuses are simply and purely domestic violence and that “no woman, whether celebrity or not, deserves to have their allegations of such abuse taken lightly”.
Jason Hoppy has denied all the charges. His attorney Robert Gottlieb issued a statement saying that his client denies all the charges and that he is deeply saddened by Frankel’s “unjustified actions”. He added that Hoppy is only concerned with his daughter and that he would put up a “vigorous fight against these false charges”.
In an interview with the US Weekly after conclusion of the divorce, Bethenny claimed her ex accessed her computer, read mails and stealthily recorded her conversations. Further, she said that he called her a “witch” in the presence of her child and claimed that he would ruin her.
Hoppy and Frankel, both 46, announced their separation in December 2012 following three years of marriage. The former celebrity couple engaged in a gruesome and protracted divorce battle for the subsequent four years as they battled over alimony, properties and child custody. They announced the conclusion of the divorce in the course of last year.
