Hollywood Legend Zsa Zsa Gabor Dies
The Hollywood legend known to be a pioneer of the present day celebrity obsession died on Sunday at the age of 99. The beauty, fame, controversial marriages and legal escapades of Zsa Zsa Gabor kept the tabloids always on the lookout for the next juicy story about her private and public life. According to Publicist John Blanchette, Gabor died from a heart failure. She is said to have been frail and confined to a wheelchair after a grisly car accident in 2002.
The news of her death was made public by her former publicist Ed Lozzi. The Hollywood legend, actress and socialite had been in and out the hospital several times since she broke her hip in a fall in 2010. In 2011, Gabor went through an emergency medical surgery to amputate her leg.
The actress and socialite had many marriages; a total of nine in fact, divorced seven times and had one union annulled. Her escapades were the mill of the gossip columns. She made witty quips about her divorces, romances and husbands; “I am a great housekeeper, every time I get a divorce I keep the house” was her well known line.
Zsa Zsa Gabor had an effortless way of maintaining her celebrity status without ever seeming to sweat it out in the traditional way of singing, acting and performing made her a predecessor of the likes of Kim Kadarshian, Paris Hilton and other present day socialites.
Little is talked about Gabor’s career in acting though she appeared in prominent films such as The Touch of Evil and Moulin Rouge. At the epitome of her career, Gabor was synonymous with the jet-set life. Born Sari Gabor in February 6, 1917, in Budapest, Hugary she entered the Miss Hungary beauty contest in 1936 but didn’t go through for being a minor. In 1942 Gabor married hotelier Conrad Hilton. This marriage lasted five years and produced an only heir for Gabor, Francesca Hilton, who was a great-aunt to Paris Hilton.
