When it comes to book adaptations, Netflix has delivered hits such as Altered Carbon and A Series of Unfortunate Events. With The Witcher, they’re looking to nail it out of the park once again. Fortunately, they’ve enlisted one of the hottest movie stars around as its lead.

The Witching Hour

Henry Cavill will make his return to Netflix to portray Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s upcoming series.  The character, who is also known as White Wolf, travels the land to defeat monsters as a profession.

Cavill originally starred in the 2017 Netflix film Sand Castle.

A Devoted Fan

Many people will be shocked to learn that Cavill is a major fan of The Witcher franchise. In an interview with IGN, he stated how much he enjoyed the recent Witcher video game. “The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through. Love that game. Really good game,” he said.

CD Projekt Red

While many people know The Witcher from its acclaimed video games, Cavill has become enamored with its original books. “The books are really, really good…they are well worth a read,” he said in the same interview.

To celebrate his casting announcement, Cavill posted a photo of himself on Instagram using a brand new Netflix account. With the account Geralt of Rivia, Cavill gave fans his brand new address but gave them a fair warning before sending mail.

“Please note, I’m rarely there. Monster slaying being what it is. So, replies will be few and far between, if at all,” he stated. The show is slated to be shot all over eastern Europe before the year is over. The Witcher series will be produced by Lauren Hissrich, who worked on The Defenders and Daredevil. The show will arrive on Netflix sometime in late 2019 or early 2020.
