Fox Renews ‘Gotham’ At The 11th Hour

Gotham fans a breathe a sigh of relief. After days of wondering about its fate, Fox announced the show will return next season. So, what can fans expect from these new episodes?

One Final Chapter

Season five will be the show’s final season. Gotham was rumored to be out the door if Lethal Weapon was renewed. Thankfully for fans, both shows got into the 2018-2019 schedule. This time around, Gotham‘s fifth season will have 13 episodes compared to its usual 22 episode deal.

“The fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told,” Gotham producers said in a press release.

Some New Talent

This season of Gotham has brought some new faces to the mix. Teen Wolf star Crystal Reed portrayed the villainous Sofia Falcone, who is the daughter of Carmine Falcone. Two-time Tony award-winning actor Michael Cerveris landed the role of Professor Pyg. Other newcomers to the show include Kyle Vincent Terry as Headhunter and Chris Perfetti as Cosmo Krank, a.k.a. The Toymaker.

It also saw the return of The Scarecrow, who is portrayed by both Charlie Tahan and David W. Thompson.

A Dark Knight

The ratings for season four have floated around the 3 million mark. While this is a step down from previous seasons, the show has seen praise from numerous outlets. Rotten Tomatoes gave it an approval rating of 92%, which is its highest rating yet.

At the 2018 Saturn Awards in Burbank, California, the show was nominated for two awards. David Mazouz earned his first Saturn nomination for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Television Series. His co-star Camren Bicondova was nominated for the same award back in 2015. The show will earn its third overall nomination in the Best Superhero Adaptation Television Series category.
