Winter is Coming – George R.R. Martin Reacts to Trump’s Win
Donald Trump is officially the President-Elect of the planet’s most powerful country. But, not everyone is happy about his unexpected victory.
Author George R.R. Martin’s latest Post,”President P*ssygrabber,” bears it all. According to Martin, winter is indeed coming, though not in Westeros, but rather in the United States.
The author, famous for the award-winning TV series, Game of Thrones, had made no secret his support for the Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton. So, when Clinton couldn’t outsmart the real estate mogul, so many people, including Martin, couldn’t hide the shock they were in. Martin chose to go public with his feelings using his LiveJournal, with a post bluntly titled, “President P**sygrabber”.
In the short, strongly-worded post, Martin laid out his sentiments regarding what he expects and fears come January 2017. “There are really no words for how I feel this morning.” he wrote. “Trump was the least qualified candidate ever nominated by a major party for the presidency.”
In a fuming, somewhat blatant tone, Martin went ahead to reflect on what the win meant for the US. He justified his post’s outrageous title with some seemingly saddening predictions. “Come January, he will become the worst president in American history and a dangerously unstable player on the world stage,” said the author.
Like many other sworn Democrats who thought Trump had zero chances of winning the presidential race, Martin, too, was dumbfounded. According to Martin, Trump will be the least qualified president in history, which in the author’s sentiments spells a doomed future for the Americans and the entire world at large.
“Over the next four years, our problems are going to get much, much worse.”
Martin, who authored the Song of Ice and Fire series, wrote that with decimated Democrats being a minority in both houses, Trump’s powers would go on unhindered, which is something he fears greatly.
Martin’s predictions sound familiar to all of those who enjoy the savagely violent, politically dicey book franchise turned hit HBO series. The post may appear a bit like one of his signature fictional tales, although right now he’s clearly blatant.
“Winter is coming, I told you so,” Martin signed off.
