The Low Down George R.R. Martin Gives Update On Upcoming ‘Game Of Thrones’ Book ‘The Winds Of Winter’ Published 1 week ago on Oct 10, 2018 By Jade Wilson When it comes to the sixth Game of Thrones book, author George R.R. Martin has been taking his time. Revealed back in 2011, The Winds of Winter has seen a handful of delays. The acclaimed author recently gave an update on the forthcoming book. Winter Can Wait In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Martin states it’s been harder than usual with this one. “I’m working on [The Winds of Winter], and I wish I’d been done four years ago, but I’m slow and the book is very complex,” he said. HBO The Winds of Winter was originally slated to drop before Game of Thrones‘ sixth season. Earlier this year, he revealed that the book wouldn’t arrive in 2018. “No, winter is not coming… not in 2018, at least. You’re going to have to keep waiting for The Winds of Winter,” he posted on his website. A Proper Finale When it comes to checking out the set of HBO’s Game of Thrones, it takes away precious time from working. “Going to set is a lot of fun but there’s nothing for me to do there, so I thought I better stay home and not go to Croatia; or Spain; or Belfast, [Northern] Ireland. I still have two books to write,” he also told THR. HBO Aside from The Winds of Winter, he’s working on A Dream of Spring, which will conclude the entire series. At the Guadalajara International Book Fair, Martin stated that the final book won’t end well for many. “I’m not going to tell you how I’m going to end my book, but I suspect the overall flavor is going to be as much bittersweet as it is happy,” he said. Going Back In Time Before The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring can drop, Martin has another novel on the way. Fire & Blood, Vol. 1 arrives in bookstores on November 20.
