Don Cheadle Stars in New Kedrick Lamar Video “DNA”

Last week, Kendrick Lamar released his album, “DAMN” and now he has released a video for “DNA,” a  track from that album. The surprise of the new video is that it stars the actor, Don Cheadle. The singer posted the video to YouTube.  The album is poised to become Lamar’s third to make it to number one on the Billboard Top 200.

Elderkin Nabil and “the little homies” directed the video. It shows Cheadle interrogating Lamar, who is dressed as Kung Fu Kenny. That is until Cheadle starts voicing Lamar’s lyrics back to him after he tries to switch on his lie detector test machine. Nabil has worked with such artists as Frank Ocean, Bon Iver, Kanye West and FKA Twigs. The result is nothing short of an intense video. Cheadle brings his A game and it makes for a very entertaining and intense video.

This is the second video to be released from the album, DAMN. Back on March 30th, the singer released, “Humble.” That video has gotten almost 79 million views.

The song features this lyric, “I got millions, I got riches, buildin’ in my DNA / I got dark, I got evil, that rot inside my DNA.”

For his part, Cheadle has this line in the video, “Kendrick Lamar. Two first names, huh, the f— is up with that?,” asks Cheadle, who plays an interrogator. “You know what DNA stands for? Dead N—a Association.”

While this may not have been the most obvious choice for a star for a rap video, the results show how great an actor Cheadle is. He and Lamar really stand out in this video, which is more of a mini movie than traditional music video.  The video has received more than 1.3 million views five hours after it was uploaded. Maybe we’ll see more videos with the actor.
