Rarely does a weekend go by without the release of a highly-anticipated comic book movie. And in the days leading up to those premieres, graphic novel fans fill the void by scouring the web for rumors and news about upcoming films. So, when the first trailer for DC’s Shazam! hit the Internet, people were beyond thrilled.

A Different Kind Of Hero

David F. Sandberg is the director behind this epic tale of a young teen who miraculously inherits superpowers. Whenever 14-year-old Billy shouts the famous chant, “Shazam!” he’s transformed into an invincible superhero.

Breakout child actor, Asher Angel, plays the role of Billy. With the former star of NBC’s Chuck, Zachary Levi, playing his comic book alter ego.

Much Lighter Tone

This film is coming from Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. The same studio who brought us more serious comic book films like, Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman. However, despite that reputation, this film seems to be very light and family-friendly which is a nice change from the dark tones of the other movies.

The childlike way Levi is able to portray Shazam! is sure to delight moviegoers and superhero fans everywhere.

Superhero Man-Child

Set in the DC Extended Universe, Shazam! is going to entertain audiences with this charming story of a superhero man-child who learns how to enjoy his newfound gifts. These kind of crime-fighting duties were more of a depressing requirement in past comic book movies. But this hero looks like he’s going to be a whole lot of fun to watch.

The film, written by Henry Gayden, was based on an adaptive story by Darren Lemke. The movie also stars Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, and Grace Fulton. Shazam! is set to hit theaters in April, but people are already super excited for its release. And really, can you blame them?
