Couple Proves True Love Exists When They Miraculously Find Each Other After 56 Years Apart

Love stories like those found in The Notebook or Casablanca might seem too good to be true, but every now and then, we hear a real-life love story that’s even more impressive than Hollywood’s version!

Meet William Bell & Omega Brown

William Bell and Omega Brown met in 1955 in Greensboro, North Carolina after being set up by a friend. They fell rapidly and deeply in love, but sadly, reality set in when Bell graduated and moved to Maryland.

Their relationship cooled off and the couple gradually fell out of touch and into relationships with people that would become their long-term spouses. They both had families and lives of their own as they grew old with the only remnants of each other being fond memories.

They Found Each Other Again

Both William and Omega found themselves single once again as Omega had separated from her husband at 62 and William had suffered the loss of his wife due to a stroke when he was 65-years-old.

Omega thought she would remain single for the rest of her days, but William hoped that he might find another woman to share his life with.

Years later, in February 2016, Omega was reminiscing about her time with William to her daughter, and her daughter recognized something special in the way she spoke of him. Her daughter immediately took it upon herself to find William and reconnect him with her mother.

Two days before Valentines Day, Omega picked up the phone and heard a voice she hadn’t heard in decades: it was William.

The Spark Reignited

“That was just like Christmastime,” William says of that first phone call, “where the lights lit up in her heart and mine.”

They talked for hours and caught up on their lives since their time together. They talked about their families, their careers, their sorrows, and their joys. A reunion was planned for Easter weekend, and William made Omega a romantic promise.

“When I see you, I don’t care who’s in your presence,” he said, “I’m gonna kiss you right on your mouth.”

When they met in the airport, William followed through on his promise and planted a kiss on Omega within seconds.

“It was great. It was great. It was great,” Omega repeated as she blushed profusely. “It didn’t seem like we had been apart that long. It was like – it seemed like we were – I don’t know, it just seemed like it was meant to be.”

Their Love Story Is Still Going

William is 88 now, and Omega is 82, and while they wish they had found each other sooner immediately after they had become single, they feel truly blessed to have reconnected and be able to spend their time together now.

Their families say that it’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love and the couple has smiles permanently fixed on their faces.

Omega Brown is now Omega Bell, and it only took sixty-two years after her first date with William for it to happen.

Is that true love or what?!
