Couple Takes Hilariously Heartwarming Newborn Photos With Their 21-Year-Old Son

Published

Becoming a parent at a young age is never easy. Taking care of a baby involves a lot more than cute onesies, and the stress of parenting as a teen can be overwhelming. Rebecca Hayes and David Ward know of these struggles all too well, and their story is anything but simple!

This Couple Was Young And In Love

Hayes and Ward fell in love at a young age, but when Hayes became pregnant as a sophomore in high school, everything changed. This couple from Orange County, California broke up right before Hayes gave birth to their son, Clayton.

They both went on to get married and start their own separate families, but they later developed a close friendship.

“It was all completely platonic, but it was still this situation where we could talk about anything. We just felt very comfortable with each other,” Hayes stated.

It wasn’t until tragedy struck that they rekindled their romance.

Both Parents Suffered From Deep Losses

After coping with addiction and mental illness, Hayes’ husband committed suicide in 2013. Ward and his wife at the time became a support system for Hayes during her time of grieving until Ward’s wife became sick and died from cancer in 2015.

Although under devastating circumstances, the couple grew closer and closer. This past June they decided to move in together, and they have become inseparable—starting right where they left off.

“Seeing my biological parents together was definitely weird at first, because my dad and I didn’t spend a whole lot of time together when I was a kid,” their 21-year-old son Clayton said.

Little did he know how outrageously weird—and heartwarming—things were going to get.

Hayes Suggested A Newborn Photo Shoot

“You know, we never had newborn pictures, maybe we should do some where we are cradling Clay’s feet and caressing his sweet little head,” Hayes jokingly suggested to her Ward and their son. Hayes—a newborn photographer herself—got the idea this past March after photographing a client.

Hayes, Ward, and their son Clayton were on board to do the shoot. The result is absolutely comical, but these photos tug on your heartstrings nonetheless.

The Shoot Was Anything But Ordinary

“We took them in June, and it was hotter than hell, and we were laughing hysterically the entire time,” Hayes stated.

The heat didn’t stop this couple from swaddling their 240-pound son in a blanket or cradling his ten toes.

The photographer of this hilarious shoot, Duffi Crowson of Chaotic Perfection Photography, couldn’t wait to share these amazing photos with the world.

This Family’s Newborn Shoot Went Viral

Since Chaotic Perfection posted the shoot on Facebook, the photos have been shared thousands of times.

“One of her regrets from when they had their son all those years ago, was they never took newborn photos, as mom, dad, and baby. So here they are… mom and dad…. With their 21-year-old “newborn” son,” the Facebook post states.

This photoshoot is filled with so much love and life. Here’s to many more joyous moments for this couple and their family!
