Hillary Clinton’s Private Email Server Resurfaces in the Anthony Weiner Investigation
Democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, seems to have hit another rough patch in her campaign for the White House. This is in light of emerging information by the FBI which reveals that emails from Clinton’s private email server, which was under investigation for quite some time, were discovered in a personal computer owned by disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner. Weiner is the estranged husband of Clinton’s distinguished vice chairwoman, Huma Abedin. The matter first came to light when Clinton was secretary of state, and was accused of mismanaging classified information using her private email server. As can be expected, Weiner’s involvement has given things a new twist. What is of more concern is the fact that the case has resurfaced just a few weeks to the USA elections.
The emails surfaced unexpectedly during an investigation that had nothing to do with Clinton – regarding Anthony Weiner’s sexting scandal, in which he allegedly sent nude photos of himself to a 15-year-old girl, among others. The FBI is currently investigates whether the emails found on Weiner’s home computer came from Clinton’s private server, while causing much criticism from both Democrats and Republicans.
As a point of fact, Hillary Clinton demanded that FBI officials publish more information about the investigations. She stated that she was fully convinced the decision made earlier by the FBI, about her not being prosecuted, would still stand. In fact, Clinton stressed that Americans had long ago made up their minds concerning the emails. When asked whether the Anthony Weiner issue would negatively impact on her campaign, she dismissed the questions with laughter.
Clinton further said that FBI director James Comey’s decision to reopen the matter was a way of diminishing her chances of winning over undecided voters, making her campaign complicated especially when it seemed to be at its peak. She also expressed that Comey did not have a significant amount of information to warrant him to reveal the matter, and more so when the elections are just around the corner.
Although the newly revealed information has ruffled a few feathers among Clinton’s supporters who feel the FBI officials ought not to have raised the issue again, they are still hopeful that with Clinton leading in the public polls, especially with Donald Trump’s recent scandals, all will turn out right.
How do you think this will affect Clinton’s campaign? Let us know in the comments!
