Christina Aguilera Is Open To Recording Music With Her Rumored Rival Britney Spears

Published

on

Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears are indisputably two of the biggest pop stars of all-time. Yet the two have never done a song together, probably due to their long-rumored rivalry since the 1990s. However, it looks like one pop diva may finally be open to a musical collaboration!

Both Spears and Aguilera got their start as kids on the 1989-1994 revival of The Mickey Mouse Club. The two sang, danced and acted alongside rising stars like JC Chasez, Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and, of course, Justin Timberlake. The two seemed to get along then but had a few alleged riffs over Timberlake (who Spears went on to date for three years). When the pop stars branched out Spears out as solo artists, their rivalry seemed to get even worse.

Good Vs. Bad

The two began their own solo careers some years after The Mickey Mouse Club wrapped. In the late 90s, Spears emerged as the nice and sweet pop star, while Aguilera was seen as more of a sultry rebel. The media and fans instantly pitted the two against each other, consistently comparing them. And it was that comparison, along with a now-iconic performance with a legendary star, that would fuel the flames.

A Kiss Gone Wrong

In the early 2000s, Spears had switched up her image from sweet to sexy, while Aguilera maintained her soulful and sultry attitude. When the two joined Madonna on stage at the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, Madonna shared kisses with both of them. Spears was seen as sexy, while Aguilera was met with more backlash. The incident (and comparison) caused Aguilera to make little digs at Spears in interviews. Spears was none too happy, calling Aguilera rude and inauthentic.

Common Ground

Over time, the two became less combative and worked on peace. As both Spears and Aguilera eventually were married, became moms, and went through divorces, they had a lot more in common. They had grown up personally and professionally as well. The pop stars weren’t necessarily friends, but ultimately wished each other the best in life. That maturity led to a surprising confession from Aguilera.

Possible Collaboration?

On a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Aguilera opened up about her rumored feud with Spears. “If we had social media back then, we would have probably done like a song together or something and just like squashed that whole thing,” she said. Kimmel replied, “It’s probably not too late for that.” Aguilera revealed that she would indeed be up for a collaboration! Is it possible that these two pop stars will come together for one song? Only time will tell.
