Chrissy Teigen Hilariously Roasts John Legend After Achieving EGOT Status

Published

What’s a marriage without a little trolling? Just ask Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who are notorious for their playful banter on social media. The two are continuously finding opportunities to roast each other online. If you think the jokes are tabled on more serious occasions, like award shows, think again.

Legend Makes History With EGOT Status

John Legend made history after winning an Emmy for Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. Taking home the Emmy officially put him at EGOT status (meaning he has received at least one Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony award) — making him the first black man ever to reach this accomplishment.

Of course, his wife Chrissy Teigen was supportive and proud of her husband, taking to Twitter and Instagram to post multiple times in celebration. Some may have even thought she was going to go the entire night without cracking a joke. That, however, did not end up being the case.

Teigen Roasts Legend Via Instagram

In true trolling fashion, Teigen simply couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to poke fun at her spouse. Once the couple got home from the award show, the model posted a video on Instagram of Legend putting his latest award with his other accolades.

And I say hey, what a wonderful kind of day

At first glance, this would appear just a simple, sweet video. The roasting, though, takes place in the caption.

Teigen Compares Husband To Arthur The Aardvark

Teigen wrote, “And I say hey, what a wonderful kind of day,” a lyric from the theme song of the kids’ cartoon show Arthur — a reference one may need a little backstory to understand where the joke is.

Legend is often trolled on the internet for his resemblance to the Aardvark cartoon character. It’s far from the first time Teigen has chosen this particular avenue to tease her husband. But what makes this particular so epic is that it was on one of the most important and significant nights in his career thus far.
