Check Out the Decadence of Russia’s Youths on Instagram
“Give me just one generation of youth, and I’ll transform the whole world.”
Rich Russian Kids (RRK), an anonymously created Instigram account, documents the extravagant lifestyles of the Russian Federation’s so-called “minigarchs,” the offspring of the country’s wealthiest elite. Many of Russia’s elite gained their fortune in the years following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and have since been referred to as “oligarchs.”
RRK seems to be at least partly inspired by the notorious Rich Kids of Instigram, which displays the overtly luxurious lifestyles of Western youths.
RRK’s unknown creator insists that they created the account to poke fun at the social and economic inequalities the world’s largest country, and maintains they do not hate the clearly out-of-touch Russian youths.
For all we know, they could be one of these “minigarchs” themselves.
Orthodox Patriarch Kirill warned last year: “If those of our people who have a lot of money would worry not only about the number of horsepower under their bonnets, and the number of floors in their houses, but also what those next to them think about it, then the psychological atmosphere in our country would be much better.”
The Russian Orthodox Church has gained considerable influence in Vladimir Putin’s Russia. Apparently, the Western sanctions imposed on the country for Putin’s annexation of Crimea haven’t cramped these brats’ style.

Andrey Zvyagintsev’s 2014 film Leviathan explores the lives of Russia’s less fortunate, and the dark side of the country’s spiritual reawakening.
But, nevertheless, something tells me this isn’t the future for the молодой (young) that comrade Lenin had in mind during the days of the revolution.
