5 Characters That Could Return In Game Of Thrones Season 8

Published

on

Game of Thrones is well known for killing off major characters. George R. R. Martin famously said that was the purpose of the series. He wanted to make you love a character and then watch you cry as he took that character away. While not all of these are dead, seeing as our heroes are fighting an army of the undead that means anyone can show back up.

Catelyn Stark

Catelyn Stark was last seen in season 2, having been killed in the famous Red Wedding. Her book counterpart was actually resurrected and become Lady Stoneheart a figure obsessed with vengeance. Seeing as the White Walkers have now passed The Wall, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see a Wight of Catelyn. While not exactly Lady Stoneheart, it would be a nice reference for book fans. Now for a man soon to be dead…

Ser Ilyn Payne

A man of no words, Ser Ilyn Payne was last seen in season 2. He may not have a big role but he is Arya Stark’s list to kill. Now that she is trained and back in Westeros taking her revenge, it would be a perfect time to bring him back. Speaking of a character related to Arya…

Hot Pie

Hot Pie is a fan favorite minor character that appeared as recently as season 7. Despite his pure heart and naive personality, he has managed to stay alive in the Game of Thrones universe. That’s a feat worthy of an awesome send-off within and of itself. Next is a character on a different continent.

Daario Naharis

The loveable rogue that served as one of Daenerys closest friends and advisors was last seen in season 6. He was put in charge of The Bay of Dragons when Daenerys set sail for Westeros. Considering she is now facing off against the White Walkers along with everyone else, Daario Naharis could show up to help the woman he loves. It’s guaranteed to be a scene full of arrogance and humor. And finally, a character of few words…

Hodor

The ever-present companion to Bran who could only say the word “Hodor” met his end in season 6. Unlike the other dead characters on this list, he is the most likely to show up as a Wight. He died beyond The Wall being killed by other Wights, as The Night King pursued Bran. Seeing as The Night King has a special connection to Bran, he may intentionally bring Hodor back just to be sadistic.
