Cat Litter in Your Toilet? Here’s How to Fix That!

Has clumping cat litter gotten into your plumbing? It can be disastrous if it does. If this has never happened to you, you probably are not aware of the fact that it will turn to concrete. Concrete is very useful in some settings, it is not when it is in your pipes.

Before you call the plumber and spend thousands of dollars dealing with the issue, there is something you should try. This is especially helpful if the clumping kitty litter has gotten into your toilet.

What you will need:

  • A plunger.
  • A big container of lemon liquid dish soap.
  • Warm water and a bucket.

All is not lost! You can save your plumbing!

Here’s what it will take:

  1. Take your lemon dish soap and pour some in the toilet.
  2. Pour in some warm water. It is important that the water be very warm but not hot. Hot water can crack your toilet.
  3. Leave for a few minutes.
  4. Plunge vigorously for several minutes.
  5. Repeat as needed and until you have gotten the results that you want.

This process will work but it is not an instant fix. It can take up to six hours to get all of the cat litter out of your toilet and to flow harmlessly away through your pipes to the sewer system. You need to be patient. If, after a day, this has not worked, you should call in the professionals to help.

If your issue is that kitty litter has gotten into your drain. You can try the same  technique but you can use hotter water. By placing the plunger over the drain, you can use the same steps to get the lemon dish soap to dissolve the cement like substance that the litter has turned into.

Of course, if you can train your cat to use the toilet, you will never need this remedy for cat litter in your toilet.
