With its debut in 2016, Westworld became one of HBO’s biggest shows yet. The sci-fi/western series, which is based of the 1973 film of the same name, earned numerous Emmy nominations for its visual effects and costume design. Many of its stars are very familiar, so we’re taking a look at some of their past roles.

Jimmi Simpson

Jimmi Simpson earned two Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work as Gavin Orsay on House of Cards. The New Jersey native got his big break working on Late Show with David Letterman as Lyle the intern. In 2017, he reprised his role of Mary Lightly for Psych: The Movie.

James Marsden

Many comic book fans know James Marsden as Cyclops in the X-Men films. Aside from acting, the former Versace model also knows how to carry a tune. He was featured in the soundtracks to 2007’s Enchanted and the remake of Hairspray. In 2012, he joined 30 Rock as Liz Lemon’s husband Criss Chros.

Tessa Thompson

Tessa Thompson’s first taste of fame came from her role of Jackie Cook on Veronica Mars. Her work in the films For Colored Girls, Dear White People, and Creed earned her critical acclaim. In 2017, she made her way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok.

Jeffrey Wright

Jeffrey Wright and HBO have had a grand relationship over the years. In 2004, he gained Emmy and Golden Globes wins for his work in the miniseries Angels In America. The following year, he starred in Lackawanna Blues. In 2013, he returned to the cable network in Boardwalk Empire as Dr. Valentin Narcisse.

Evan Rachel Wood

Evan Rachel Wood had her breakout performance as Jessie Sammler on the ABC drama Once and Again. Following the show’s cancellation, she gained praise for her work in the drama Thirteen. HBO fans might know her as Veda Pierce in the miniseries Mildred Pierce. The North Carolina native earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for the show.
