Watch: Trailer for Blade Runner Sequel Released
Fans of Ridley Scott’s cult classic should be happy to hear that they will finally get a look at the sequel to the film, Blade Runner 2049. Featuring Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto. The original film, released in 1982 is considered to be a “neo-noir” movie. The official trailer for the sequel has been released for fans who cannot get enough of Scott’s vision of a dystopian, cyber punk world.
The new film brings back star, Harrison Ford but also has new stars. Ryan Gosling, Ana De Armos and Jared Leto are just a few of the actors who are in the new film. The soundtrack was done by Jóhann Jóhannsson. The new director is Denis Villeneuve. His other works include Arrival, Enemy and Sicario.
Warner Brothers put out this statement about the release of the new Blade Runner film:
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years. Blade Runner 2049 stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.
A Sequel to Blade Runner Seemed Impossible for a Long Time
One thing that fans of the original movie had said for years is, “How can you possibly make a sequel to such an iconic and unique film?” The good news is that the theme and the subject matter of life like androids or “replicants” is a timeless idea. Once Harrison Ford agreed to reprise his role as Rick Deckard, it seemed the possibility of a new Blade Runner was a lot more real.
Fans can watch the trailer now but they will have to wait until October 6, 2017 to see the full movie.
