‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Jim Parsons Weds Longtime Boyfriend

Jim Parsons married his longtime partner, Todd Spiewak, at the Rainbow Room in New York City on Saturday night. “The Big Bang Theory” star’s representative, Jillian Roscoe, confirmed the news to USA Today on Sunday. New York Post’s Page Six first reported that the couple tied the knot on the same day.

“I met this guy (the one with the mic) 14 years ago today and it was the best thing that ever happened to me, no contest,” Parsons posted on Instagram in November. “One of the greatest gifts to me is that he no longer takes me to sings karaoke. Also, I believe this was a selfie with an actual camera, as our phones couldn’t do that back then hahaha!”

The actor first revealed to the public that he was gay in a profile for the New York Times in 2012.

Parsons has won four Emmys for his role as Sheldon Cooper, the annoying, but lovable theoretical physicist at Caltech. His wedding also comes days after his Big Bang character proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik), on Thursday’s season 10 finale.

Being that the show currently averages 18.7 million views, CBS has been extended it for another two seasons. The network is also developing the spin-off series “Young Sheldon”, which will center around the scientist’s upbringing in his native Texas, and be narrated by none other than Parsons himself.

“It’s more of an origins story than a close cousin to ‘Big Bang’,” he said. “It’s more like the beginnings of a superhero, which in this case is a genius nerdy kid.”

No official premiere date for “Young Sheldon” has been released.

Watch Parsons discuss his role in “Normal Heart” and then ten-year relationship with Spiewak during his 2012 appearance on “Inside the Actor’s Studio”.
