The Best and Worst Looks From the 2017 Grammys
The 2017 edition of the Grammys has come and gone, with its fair share of good and bad moments. While the awards and performances could give us almost unlimited subjects to discuss, we will focus on a different area today: the outfits the stars wore on the day. As always, there were some clear winners, some classic looks, and some dreadful style choices which will haunt their owners for some time . So, without further introduction, let’s take a look at our list of best and worst dressed stars at the 2017 Grammys.
Rihanna has a reputation for trying out daring pieces of clothing, and she’s lived up to it this time as well, with a closely-trimmed orange top which complimented her tattoo very well. She also picked the top in a bright orange color and paired it with a generous black skirt and classic accessories.
Adele was another good story of this year’s Grammys, wearing a patterned Givenchy gown, paired with very elegant hair, make-up and accessories for an overall royal look. The artist clearly showed that she was there to win awards and be as glamorous as possible on the red carpet.
Jennifer Lopez has enjoyed quite some years in the spotlight, so dressing to outshine previous outings was certainly hard. She has tried to do so by wearing a light violet Ralph & Russo piece, and while we can’t say the star doesn’t look gorgeous, we’ve seen better from J Lo in the past.
We initially thought that this year would be all about monochromatic looks, even if that color would be green. Paris Jackson is here to prove us wrong, wearing a rainbow Balmain gown, which finds itself right in the middle of the glam movement and 70s flower fashion. The star was absolutely correct with this choice, and her sight brought smiles to everyone during the entire evening.
Chrissy Teigen is the last woman we’re going to mention on the well-dressed list, but what a way to end it! The star picked a lovely black macramé gown – elegant, chic and tasteful, as well as sexy. If we had to pick an outfit from this year’s Grammys that we absolutely loved, it would be hers – perfect 10/10.
Of course, not everyone at the ceremony made the well-dressed list, and we will remember some people for their fashion mistakes at this ceremony. Here are the ones which we wish we could forget quickly, but really can’t:
The first star on our badly-dressed list is Katy Perry. While the diva indeed showed us in the past that she’s capable of wearing fabulous outfits, the Tom Ford dress she wore to the Grammys is anything but glamorous and unique. The color of the top is a bit off, it doesn’t work well with the texture of the skirt, and coupling it with hair and make-up just doesn’t fit. Mrs. Perry’s natural beauty could have been accentuated in so many different (and better) ways.
Halsey was another one of the stars which will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Many critics have described her outfit as looking much like silk pajamas, and we’re inclined to say they’re right. The artist certainly exposed lots of skin, but in a very brutal and style-lacking way – a big no-no for such a ceremony as the Grammys.
Heidi Klum barely made the “good” list this year. If her dress were 3-4 inches longer, she’d be right there with the best-dressed stars of the night, looking chic and elegant. While the short Phillip Plein dress certainly showed the star’s great body, the overall vibe was closer to a party shirt than a beautiful dress.
There are other stars which didn’t treat the ceremony with any respect – Girl Crush being the next example that comes to mind. Her dress was – no joke here – just some toy balls glued to a dress, and a pink bra for a top. If shocking is what she went for, she succeeded, but we can’t imagine anybody shocked in a positive way. The star treated the Grammys like the McDonalds birthday party of a 13-year-old.
Elle King decided to go with a floral gown. Although there’s technically nothing wrong with that, she paired the dress with 3D decorations, a floral crown and curled tresses – an outfit that would have been much better at a costume party than a Grammys ceremony. To the badly-dressed list with her!
