Angelina Jolie Dines with Father, Jon Voight, After Long Feud
Angelina Jolie and her famous father, actor Jon Voight, was seen having dinner in Beverly Hills Wednesday.
Based on the report and photographs by “The Daily“, the Maleficent actress brought four of her six children, namely Pax, Zahara, Viviene, and Knox, to dine with her father at a sushi restaurant.
While it is natural for a grandfather to spend time with his grandchildren and daughter, the occasion was a rare moment for Jolie and her father.
It can be recalled that the popular Hollywood father-daughter had a major fallout in 2002 when Voight told in an interview that Jolie was suffering from serious mental problems. Voight said then, I’m broken-hearted … because I’ve been trying to reach my daughter and get her help and I have failed and I’m sorry.”
Coincidence or not, the announcement was made one month after Jolie applied to legally drop “Voight” from her name and was granted legal permission to simply use her screen name, Angelina Jolie.
Jolie was furious, to say the least, considering that Voight’s interview could have jeopardized not only her relationship with her son Maddox but also her chances of keeping Maddox in her custody. Jolie adopted Maddox in the same month that Voight did the interview.
From then on, Jolie cut all ties with her father, saying “My father and I don’t speak. I don’t believe that somebody’s family becomes their blood. Because my son’s adopted and families are earned.”
It was reported that Voight continuously tried to be reconnected with Jolie especially after her mother died of cancer in 2007.
The father-daughter feud was only restored in 2010 largely because of the intervention of Brad Pitt who reportedly encouraged Jolie and Voight to meet.
Hollywood was buzzing in early 2010 when “Brangelina” (the famous moniker of Pitt and Jolie as a couple) together with their children were photographed spending time with Voight in Italy.
Apparently, while “Brangelina” is no more, the relationship between Jolie and her father is still developing towards the right direction.
