The Low Down 3 Reasons To Go See “Andhadhun” In Theatres Published 2 weeks ago on Nov 1, 2018 By Will Gardner Andhadhun is Bollywood’s 2018 best comedic thriller. Directed by up-and-coming Sriram Raghavan, this suspenseful, murderous tale brings unexpected elements that will captivate almost any viewer. Incredible Performances All The Way Through Though most films stand on their scripts, Andhadhun’s stars make the film what it is. Bollywood star Tabu (as Simi), Ayushmann Khurrana (as Akash), and Radhika Apte (as Sophie) all give solid performances. ZEENEWS Critic Rajeev Masand gave Khurrana and Tabu especial praise, stating: “Ayushmann is in solid form, better than he’s ever been… But, not surprisingly, the film’s towering performance comes from Tabu. Her Simi is a woman of many faces, and the actress makes a meal of the part.” The Characters Are Relatable (Even If You Have Nothing In Common) The characters in Andhadhun are relatable in ways other thriller and murder mystery movies are not. Director Sriram Raghavan says, “…These are not career criminals. I relate to it because there is this possibility that it can happen to anyone… you see your fears on the screen. You have this thought ‘Thank God, it is happening to someone else.'” Indian Express The film shows how easy it is for ordinary people’s lives to derail so quickly through a series of unexpected turns. It plays this theme up even more by making the main character an innocent, blind man who somehow gets caught in the most terrifying of situations. A Phenomenal, Unexpected Music Score This film’s soundtrack has an incredible mix of modern and traditional styles. As the main character is a pianist there are several solo piano tracks that are absolutely show-stopping. BolyWorm The soundtrack as a standalone is great, but when put to the movie scenes, it adds a layer of depth and dimension you don’t often see. Many of the tracks’ moods are contrasting to the action of the situation (upbeat songs played during suspenseful or dramatic moments). Most films wouldn’t be able to pull this off, but Andhadhun does it very well. Next: PG-13 ‘Deadpool 2’ arrives in theaters this December...
