The Best and Worst Dressed From The 2017 Golden Globes
It was one of the biggest nights in the entertainment calendar as the world’s most famous actors, TV stars and musicians walked the red carpet at the 74h Golden Globes — which was broadcast to hundreds of millions of people around the world. It was a huge evening for fashionistas, too, who scored the best-dressed — and, of course, the worst-dressed — celebrities at the annual awards ceremony. So who made a lasting impression? And which stars left a lot to be desired? Read on to find out.
British-American actress Lily Collins was nominated for an award at the Golden Globes and has since featured on many best and worst dressed lists. The general consensus was that Collin’s dress was “stunning,” and much was written about her hair — a braided updo that certainly created a massive impression on the paparazzi at the event. Collins, the daughter of iconic British musician Phil Collins, also posted a photo on Instagram before the awards ceremony.
Evan Rachel Wood
Actress Evan Rachel Wood certainly got everyone talking at the Golden Globes. Unlike most of the other female stars, who wore glittery gowns, Wood ditched the dress completely, opting for a black-and-white suit. It paid tribute to the legendary British musician David Bowie, who passed away in early 2016. Most of the press loved Wood’s dress, which defied convention and provided an alternative to some of the other traditional dresses on the red carpet this year.
The actress, who won Best Actress in a Musical for her performance in La La Land, took the red carpet by surprise. 2015 was the last time Stone graced the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards donning a forgetabble Lanvin jumpsuit. When news surfaced that she would be back to the Globes, the stakes immediately went up. However, she lived up to expectation, donning an attractive dress designed by Valentino that made fans’ heads spin. She could not have gotten better than that.
A lot of yellow gowns were exhibited at the 2017 Golden Globes, but no one killed it like the ‘How to Get Away with Murder’ star. She is known to not shy away from making huge statements or bold colors, which is why she confidently walked down the red carpet wearing the yellow Michael Kors dress.
Drew Barrymore was undoubtedly one of the clear winners of the night. She stood out with an excellent creative twist on style. Barrymore perfectly managed to preserve her boho chic appearance with the choice of Monique Lhuillier art deco sunburst embroidered cape sleeve dress.
This kind of dress, which Amy Adams wore at the Sundays 2017 Golden Globe is not unique to her. She has donned this kind of outfit in many other events. Despite that, she managed to bring the best out of the all-black Tom Ford designed gown.
Heidi Klum, an adored supermodel, might have tried hard to look gorgeous, but she didn’t just cut it. Despite donning a strapless gown revealing her sun-skinned skin achieved by days of going topless in Miami, this lool clearly wasn’t her best choice.
Naomi Campbell is a familiar name in the fashion world, thanks to her long-time achievements as one of the first supermodels. The 46-year-old beauty is known for her love for hard partying and never gets it wrong regarding style. This time, though, her dusky pink and black design did not bring out the best of her.
The Star Wars actress was supposed to represent British talent at the 2017 Golden Globe Award ceremony in terms of fashion and career achievements. Instead, her fashion choice got a lot of people talking, and not in a good way. Her makeup and hair looked fab, but her pink Gucci gown watered all that down.
Jessica Biel makes our list of the worst dressed at the 2017 Golden Globe ceremony despite coming along with her hottie husband, Justin Timberlake. She showed a lot of skin with her Elie Saab gown, but it was all just a little too much.
This former American Idol star has gone on to have a huge musical career, with countless Billboard chart entries to her name. She dazzled at this year’s Golden Globes, too, with many fashion experts lauding her simple but eye-catching pink dress, which came with ruffles down the front. Not everyone liked it, however. Some fashion experts thought the dress was a little “frumpy” and preferred the conventional outfits on the red carpet. Despite the mixed reaction, Underwood’s dress will likely be one that will be remembered for years to come.
Actress Sofia Vergara is famous for her scene-stealing outfits. And it was no different at his year’s Golden Globes, where she wore a dress from fashion brand Marchesa. The crowd who lined the red carpet loved it, and so did much of the press, with some calling it “beautiful.”
